Ledger Live is a companion app for viewing supported crypto accounts and managing activity with a Ledger hardware wallet. The app helps you see balances, receive assets, and prepare transactions; your device remains the place to verify and approve them. That distinction matters: a screen on your computer or phone can be imitated, but checking transaction details on your device gives you another chance to catch a mistake.
Start by downloading Ledger Live only through Ledger’s official website or a verified app-store listing. Set up your device privately, install updates from trusted sources, and keep your recovery phrase offline. Ledger support will never need that phrase. Do not enter it into a website, share it in a message, or store it in a photo or cloud document.
Before sending funds, compare the recipient address, network, and amount on your hardware wallet display. A small test transaction can help when you are using an unfamiliar address or network. Remember that crypto transfers are generally irreversible, and available features or supported assets can change by region and software version. Take your time, verify independently, and treat unexpected urgency as a reason to pause. Good self-custody is not about moving fast; it is about making each decision deliberately.
